The agricultural estate of Montestigliano has been owned and run by the Donati family for over fifty years and is still today a working farm. Centrally located in the heart of Tuscany, perched high on a hill commanding magnificent views of the Senese landscape, Montestigliano is not only the perfect retreat but also an ideal location to discover and explore the beauty of Tuscany.

The immediate surroundings of the 2500 acre estate provide a glorious setting for walking or trekking through woodlands and meadows, a game of bocce under the shade of oak trees, swimming in the River Merse, painting or simply relaxing beside either of the estate’s two modern swimming pools.

Accommodation is composed of a group of 18th century houses and buildings which have been carefully restored, retaining many of the original features common to Tuscan architecture such as exposed beam ceilings, whitewashed walls and terracotta tiled floor. House rentals vary in size accommodating from 2 people to 12 people.

The houses and apartments are simple, no two are alike, and each has its own charm and character. They have been simply but tastefully furnished and decorated. All are self-contained with fully equipped kitchens; bed and bath linens, iron, telephone and most have wash machines. One unit is suitable for handicapped access.

We are sure that you will enjoy and appreciate what a special place Montestigliano is and will savor a real taste of Tuscany!

Siena is only 12 km away, where twice a year the famous Palio (the exciting, medieval horse race) takes place. Florence is 80 km to the north and Grosseto and the Maremma coast is 50 km to the south.

The renowned historic towns of San Gimignano, Pienza, Lucca, Cortona and Volterra all make wonderful, short day trips by car. The famous Tuscan wine regions are also all very close----Chianti to the north and Montalcino and Montepulciano to the south.
